Review of the series «Iron Fist»
Before taking up the analysis of the series “Iron Fist” from Marvel Netfliks, it is extremely important to take into account the context of the serial universe Marvel, since positioning itself is part of the extensive cinematic cinematic universe with the whole galaxy of outstanding predecessors, one way or another applies certain expectations from both fans and ordinary viewers on the residential complex. In addition, it is positioning that is perhaps the main reason for all the problems of the series.
For those who are not in the know – the reviewed series before the rest of the critics criticized the final result to fluff, calling it almost the worst project of Marvel at all.
That, with all the important problems of the fist, nevertheless, in my opinion, the exaggeration.
However, we will not pull Danny by his beard and look at the final product.
The Iron Fist offers the ordinary viewer of the non -FLLLLCks of another (already fourth in a row) superhero of the street level, with the only difference being that this time the gg will beat the gopot for a reason, but with the raid of mystical forces, internal chi and other terrible words.
Unfortunately, the first thing that catches the eye when watching the series is its complete failure by thematic and stylistic training. With all their questions, the plots and characters, the three previous series had their own easily recognizable style. For the Soldering, it was an Old Francomileler “gloomy” superhero with moral suffering of characters for epic notes, for Jessica Jones-a detective neo-nuar for a pleasant jazz, for Luke Kage-as if gaze-gta gesto ghetto under the bright R&B GTA: SA.
The fist is completely devoid of both an interesting visual style and any memorable musical accompaniment. Everything looks extremely cheap and faded. Those who want to see an interesting combat choreography of the daredevil levels can exhale – at best, it looks at the level of Cage fighting sofas, in the worst – as a more budgetary than usual, an episode of mighty rangers.
However, the series is most suffering not even from this, but from the script problems. Characters in the residential complex are generally good. It is impossible to say that the best cast is directly here, but each of the actors (with the exception of Claire cooling again) is potentially capable of being interesting (I can even say that I have been penetrated faster than all their non -Fraudic analogues).
Unfortunately, the series clearly bit https://bettingsitesnogamstop.co.uk/review/prive-casino/ off the more plot than managed to digest. Here we just have a huge number of small storylines (with an almost complete absence for most of the series of the sane central line), most of which do not affect anything and does not lead anywhere. In theory, they should develop characters and give us imbued with them, but the production and presentation of everything is so bad that sometimes it is more like self -parody. What would be just excellent if the fist stopped complexing on serious cabbage soup and went into a carbon monoxide. But the creators are clearly trying to continue the theme of harsh and landed realism (in the series, where people are regularly funny in front of battles, yeah).
A sincere feeling is created that individual scriptwriters and directors worked independently from each other, even without even thinking about to somehow monitor what they were writing and shooting there. As a result, the mood and pace of the series (especially in the first half) changes from the stage to the stage (the order of which itself is so chaotic and unstable that it kills any opportunity to experience any real emotions from viewing, except perhaps the periodic desire is stupid to kidnap), and so frequent motivations and characters of the characters sometimes lead to the idea of us not reality, but the paintings from the paintings. Danny’s unhealthy head.
By the way, about our main character. Danny Rand-At the moment, this is the most undisclosed protagonist of Netfliks-Marvel. The actor widespreadly plays out, but the character himself is frankly strange. Even if you lower all the problems with the strange motivation of the character – sometimes he shows himself as a smart and smart guy (which should be a trained warrior), but Danny appears much more often in the image of a village fool, whom everyone regularly circles around and use it. It’s funny that even the series itself recognizes this, periodically teasing the character for his stupidity. However, we will not hang everything on poor Danny – they’ll blunt everything here and always, including the main villain, whose final plan is so awkward and stupid that it creates an obsessive feeling that the viewer is holding the idiot here.
Most of the plot gate valves here resembles the series from the CW channel – those who watched the “arrow”, “flash” or “legends of tomorrow” will feel like at home, since the rake of the script is all the same. Which again causes great regret, since the most bad scenario the series hits poor characters. In theory, a fist is able to offer several interesting ideas for heroes, villains, their relationships, speakers and other things – all this would be really cool and interesting if it were better filed and spelled out. Instead, here the status quo can change several times in 2-3 episodes, and then half a season may not happen at all.
Fortunately, everything is not entirely hopeless and closer to the end of the series is somewhat straightened. Stubbornly sitting to the final episodes will even be able to see them with some interest, and a couple of final twists can at least with a creak, but write down in good. However, by this moment, irreparable harm to the series has already been done.
It seems to me that we are now observing the historical moment that everyone was afraid, but which, nevertheless, expected – the crack of the breakdown formula of the nonflick superheroist.
The opinions of people about past series of New York superheroes vary, but none of them can be called a real failure.
«Iron Fist» is, alas, failure.
Yes, not as strong as critics scream (for me – Marvel had things and worse).
Yes, not as bad as the same arrow of 3-4 seasons or the current flash and in general there were TV shows much worse.
But still failure. Especially when comparing with past series from nonflicks.
And here it is necessary to recall the mentioned positioning of the series. Iron Fist cannot but look at its predecessors and not try to repeat their success. The key problem is that this time the approach turned out to be completely inappropriate (which raises the question whether it was necessary to touch the fist at all, if the supply of more simple and more convenient street heroes for the non -FLLLLIS format has not yet dried up?). Realism and landing does not work with all superheroics. As a result, the series is trying to find a balance between the origins of the character from those very fan-fan fu films of the 70s (with internal energies, super-style masters, secret monasteries, etc.D.) and attempts to transfer the entire mystical attributes of the character to the Sorpoles and Jessica Jones close to the real world. It turns out strange, incomprehensible and wildly in places.
It only hopes that the fast defenders will be better, and the production team will draw all the necessary conclusions to the already declared second season, giving us something that it will not be a pity to spend time.
Results: Iron Fist is a book example of an unsuccessful attempt to make the Kung fu militant “realistic”, removing all the flavor and self-irony. Coupled with a poor script and uneven production, the result does not inspire at all. A number of good moments and interesting ideas, unfortunately, cannot stretch everything else.
Grade: 5.5/10
Verdict: A strange series, obviously severely affected at the production stage in terms of budget, which greatly hit all the elements of the project. For viewing, it is recommended only to very unpretentious fans of street superheroes.
